Chickweed Geometer Moth

I have reported this sighting. While trying to identify this little guy, I noticed that there was really no information other than a simple photo of what type of moth I believe him to be. Check it out here. So I looked into it and sent an email to the area coordinator. I am having a case of insomnia so I have nothing better to do while I wait for my body and mind to wind down and let me sleep. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

That is quite a beautiful moth! Good for you for figuring out what it was. My head spins when I try to do that sometimes.

Insomnia? I don't get it often, but when I do, I HATE it. It's a minimum of 2 hours up in the middle of the night. I've learned to just get up and get something done. But it certainly doesn't make for a happy tomorrow. Maybe you can take a nap today!

Too cool! I hope your sighting is confirmed. There don't seem to be many reported sightings of this moth (I did go to the link and read the available information.) Nice capture!

Love the delicate coloration of this moth and you even captured it's feathery antennas! Beautiful photo!

The colour on this critter looks like it has a soft blended beauty of warm earth tones. Very nice, and good luck with finding further information about it.

Those moths are gorgeous. For some reason, I haven't seen many of the colorful moths in my neck of the high desert. But it's always nice to see them from elsewhere.

Even if you are wrong, it is wise to make a report.
Hope you have caught up on your sleep.

Christy: What a great color on this moth, it was painted with pastels.

This is really a fantastic photo and I totally understand your wanting to identify it. I am sooooo bad with identifying insects! Good luck! I just posted a butterfly... (I think) and I can't identify it... hehehe... your macro shots are fantastic!

Lovely image!
It seems very sunny so I'm surprised the moth was out in the heat. I tend to think of them as night critters.
