In Flight

My favorite shots of a Great Blue Heron. So far this is the best I have. I keep hoping to get a better shot of one. Sad thing is I only realized a few years ago that they were even in MI. To be honest growing up, I didn't see many birds besides Robins, Mourning Doves, Mallard Ducks, Canada Geese, and the occasional Blue Jay or Cardinal. I'm amazed that I have the love and desire to explore nature that I do. I need to do it more often but I will plan trips around nature centers and parks that I might be able to visit. Hope you enjoy today's photos.

Very nice flight shots! Herons are fun to see - we have one that "fishes" in front of our cabin.

I was at my parent's farm yesterday & took a pic of the sky w/ the trees & when I got home & loaded them onto my computer, there was a pretty good size bird flying over head - I didn't notice it when I was taking the picture though - but it's too far away to see what kind of bird it is.

Tricia - I have done things like that before. I only know what this bird is because it actually flew over my head first and with the new camera and the longer lense I was not able to capture it and thought about trying at another date then thought no I need to do this now so the bird was farther than I would like. I did see some this Saturday that I took some pics of and am hoping I might have a better one in those haven't loaded them on the computer yet hopefully tonight or tomorrow.
